Black River Anishinabe School played host to the Area 3 Frontier Games this past February 1st \u2013 3rd. Kids from 6 schools from the communities of Beren\u2019s River, Falcon Lake, Wanipigow, Black River, Bissett and Matheson Island came together to contest 8 different sports: Table Tennis, Archery, Snow Shoeing, Cross-Country Skiing, Trap Setting, Soccer, Badminton and Volleyball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ron Edwards and Andrezj Wiewiora were on hand as officials to run the table tennis event. The boys event had twelve players in it whereas the girls had eight. Preliminary pools were contested with the top two players in every pool advancing to the \u201cA\u201d side knockouts and the last placing group players advancing to the \u201cB\u201d side knockouts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The winners were as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Boy\u2019s Gold Medal: Heath Everett, Beren\u2019s River School<\/p>\n\n\n\n Boy\u2019s Silver Medal: Brady Boulette, San Antonio School, Bissett<\/p>\n\n\n\n Boy\u2019s Bronze Medal: Treyson LaQuette, Black River Anishinabe School<\/p>\n\n\n\n Girl\u2019s Gold Medal: Aurora Fisher, Beren\u2019s River School<\/p>\n\n\n\n Girl\u2019s Silver Medal: Sancia Semple, Beren\u2019s River School<\/p>\n\n\n\n Girl\u2019s Bronze Medal: Kainsley LaQuette, Black River Anishinabe School<\/p>\n\n\n\n The top two boys and top two girls advance to the Frontier Divisionals to be held March 1st- 3rd in Snow Lake.
