Epic Comeback

Victoria Lee

In the U19 Girls Team Event, Victoria Lee and Polina Sirotina representing Team Manitoba played an intense match against Team Quebec. Starting off by trailing 0-2 against Team Quebec, Team Manitoba had to win the next doubles game to stay in the match. After several long points of aggressive smashes and decisive blocks, Polina and Victoria won the doubles game 3-1. In the next game, Victoria also earned a 3-1 win against Team Quebec’s top player of the team, tying the series to 2-2. Then, Polina was up next for the final game against Team Quebec. The game was tight from the very start all the way to the fifth and final set. Both players were taking turns earning points and it was very difficult to tell who would take the win. At 10-10, the atmosphere was very tense, even the umpire was focused only on the net. After every point, there was loud cheers from teammates, coaches, parents and the audience because the game was down to its wire. In the end, Team Manitoba’s Polina came out on top and won the final game with an epic score of 19-17. A job well done for Team Manitoba and their amazing comeback to win 3-2 against Team Quebec!
