Safe sport refers to an environment that prioritizes the physical and psychological well-being of all participants. It involves a commitment to providing optimal experiences, while actively preventing and addressing all forms of maltreatment, including abuse, harassment, neglect, and discrimination.
Advancing safe sport is a shared responsibility that requires enhanced awareness, education, and clear actions for reporting. This page provides the resources and guidance to help advance safe sport in Manitoba.
In accordance with The Protecting Youth in Sports Act, The Manitoba Table Tennis Association provides access to an Independent Third Party for participants to report any complaints of maltreatment in sport. This service is available only to participants of MTTA. The Manitoba Table Tennis Association also offers safe sport policies and educational resources to help promote a safe environment for all.
Being involved in a maltreatment complaint—whether as a complainant or a respondent—can be a difficult and stressful experience. To support all individuals involved, MTTA shares written guides that explain what to expect throughout the Independent Third Party (ITP) complaint process, including how complaints are reviewed, how confidentiality is maintained, possible outcomes, and how individuals can participate, respond, and access support. These guides also outline what complainants can expect after submitting a report and the steps involved for respondents when allegations are communicated, ensuring clarity, fairness, and transparency throughout the process.
